Intro to Entrepreneurs James – I set up this site to share my journey as a passionate entrepreneur who set up their own business in the recruitment space. After working for a leading recruitment I.T. company based in the UK for many years, I decided to start my own business. I experienced a lot of interesting stories along the way in terms of struggles, ranging from starting up in terms of finance in my business, to leaving a very high highly paid and successful recruitment job with shares in the business to actually starting from day one as one employee in a very small office while actually working from home and then then a small office all the way to having a remote team of over 12 staff and create a turnover just under a million pounds all within two years.
Now what I’d like to do over the coming weeks and months is share some unique insights into how I’ve overcome the challenges and the journeys that I’ve come through, sharing some unique steps and strategies on what maybe can help you either start your own recruitment business or help grow your recruitment business, to make it more in line with your lifestyle.
So I’ve always been a big believer and very passionate about being successful and always wanting a nice house nice cars and the millions of pounds in the bank. But I’ve realized that it wasn’t just about the money. The money was a means to an end in terms of getting to some sort of status and getting some of the nice things that everybody enjoys; because I’ve built the business I’ve managed to enjoy some of those fruitful rewards. So I’ve got myself a nice home and a couple of nice cars (a Porsche 911 and a Range Rover up to now) and what I’ve noticed is that it wasn’t really that I was seeking. I was seeking recognition and also the lifestyle. So, by lifestyle, I mean that you can come to work when you want. You choose your own hours. You don’t have a massive team in terms of the office to manage and you don’t want to be stuck on a day to a day job where really you’re just a highly paid employee in your own business. Over 4000-5000 recruitment companies or more start every year. I know a lot of them fail, and one of the reasons is obviously that they don’t build systems and processes in the business to make sure that they can be skilled and maintained.
Number two doesn’t focus on the money aspect like a lot of recruitment business owners do when they get into that space. I was one of them. I was so immersed in actually building the business, doing the website, building the brand, going out there meeting clients, trying to do PR myself for free, I lost sight of what’s important. Building a remote team to build inbound leads and get candidates over the line and closing and actually growing the relationship with my current clients is vital.
There is so much that you can do when you are in the recruitment business. It’s a very lonely space and it’s probably hard to focus. So, what I want to do from building my website and my blog series really give you a unique insight into my day to day running of my first successful recruitment business and how I’ve done it. The steps that I’ve done and a lot of stories that I can share with you to help give you the confidence to keep growing your recruitment business or be maybe starting up your own recruitment business.
So, really I just wanted to get the name out there in terms of my points on what it is what it takes to build a recruitment company and the unique steps and processes that you need to learn to still have the choice to be a multimillionaire in terms of a business owner if that’s what you want- or how you balance that between maintaining that lifestyle. I had a dream of having Mondays off and I’ve managed to build my business in the first two years so now I don’t really work Mondays. If I do it would just be a passion project or something about developing my own personal brand or my entrepreneurial ventures.
